After a spell of travelling around the UK and Europe, I studied for a Fine Art Degree at Margaret Street Art College in Birmingham. After gaining my degree I undertook a PGCE and worked as an Art Lecturer for many years. I produced a selection of paintings, prints and wall objects during that period and was also member of Birmingham Arts Group from its inception in the 70’s.
My work expresses ideas of exploring images from my own experiences and surroundings capturing the natural vibrancy of towns, landscapes and seascapes; social events, the music, media and arts I loved; things that changed me as a person whilst growing up in an ever-changing world, the places I have visited, lived with and experienced. Some of the work captures our Celtic roots, memories of things that influenced me over the years and a love of humour. Recent work pokes fun at a mixture of all these elements, to present an expressive, quirky series of images.
Working with a variety of media, collage, styles and mark making to create small jewels of colour, texture and light capturing our roots and diverse culture.
